I had my best weekend ever for promotions. I honestly believe it is because the category I choose previously was wrong.
I understood children’s books to mean just that, children’s books. However, that category includes Young Adult. I am working as hard as I can on Dark Inhibition. I hope to post an excerpt as soon as I am comfortable.
I had over 6600 downloads. I topped the category of Children’s Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Magic at #1. #1 in Children’s books overall. #36 overall free. I was hoping to land on the first page. Had I gone another day free, I may have.
This is pretty awesome I have to say. I am very glad about it.
I am disappointed in one thing. I had a reviewer after my book was initially published (a bit hastily may I add) that liked the story but loathed the editing. Totally my fault. For some reason, amazon never sent them the email that went out in June in regard to the update. They still don’t have the update and were never notified. It’s extremely irritating and unfair to them. My friends that downloaded my book received the email as well as I did.
This week has proven to be more successful than any other week. I’m pretty excited to see where this is going!
Tuesday I took my laptop with me to work in order to complete an assignment for my professional development class. At about 2 PM PST, my laptop went black. This was not a covert operation, this was my laptop, dead, telling me it needed to be restored.
My heart fell on the floor, my stomach lodged in my throat, and my eyes welled with tears. I went to school that evening, explained the situation, and my Professor was okay with my assignment being late.
Then came the arduous task if formatting my laptop. I am so grateful that HP has a utility that allowed me to backup my data. I have all of my pictures and documents, including Dark Inhibition, It took me from 10:15 PM to 3:00 AM to get the computer to where I could leave it overnight. When I woke up the next morning, only 3 hours later, I could login to the windows screen and begin the restoration process.
Initially, I thought my backup didn’t save because it gave me an error message, but luckily, I looked in the C:/System Restore folder and found my backed up folder. Last week I had a niggling sensation that I should back up my data, however, I didn’t listen to it. I will be listening to my inner intuition for sure.
The awesome thing is I did not lose my WIP’s. What a relief.
Also, I got another great review — but I will be posting that later.
Darling minions, it is my pleasure to introduce author S. E. Myers today. She is one of the many authors you will see me tweeting about at least once per week, and since I’ve been backlogged on my gi-normous pile of work, she’s stepping up to the plate to help me out.
Also, since Monday was a holiday in the U.S., this will be your Writing/Editing post for this week. If I have time–God willing–to write up another post this week for my traditional Tuesday post, I will. If not, I’ll see you again next week because BIG things are happening in Jinxie’s World!
The thing about publishing platforms…
As my re-enrollment date for KDP select drew closer, I was faced with the decision to continue my enrollment for the next 90 days, or, attempt other platforms for self-publishing. I decided that I would try other platforms for eBook self-publishing…
